Bericht einer Austauschschülerin aus Maine, USA
Coming to Germany has been the best experience I can think of.
Going to Berlin and walking around Hamburg it is so amazing to see all the different cultures and people who
live here. Yes there is quite a Language barrier but I have managed with the help of my amazing host Bente.
We have gone to many places around Lübeck and we have visited Hamburg and the Schwerin castle. My
favorite part has been spending time with my host family and walking around and seeing all the old buildings
and how things are so different. I go to Thornton Academy and the dynamic of our school is very different. We
have a very large Highschool, with dorms for international students and then all of the American students, our
class is very large. With a senior class of more than 300 students it’s hard to know everyone and have a relati-
onship with people. We have very large classes compared to Burckhardt Gymnasium where you have mostly
the same people in every class and normally they are very small. Coming to Germany again has well improved
my German and I would recommend for all to take the opportunity to come to Germany, make great relations-
hips, learn more about where they are and see something new for a change.
